Pilot project on introduction of Smart Card/RFID Tag using

Biometrics in Public Distribution System


Objective :

The objective of the project is to test various Biometric technologies (IRIS/Fingerprint) with the combination of Smart Card (s) on Point of Sale terminals located at Fair Price Shops for the distribution of essential commodities

Pilot Implementation :

The project is initially implemented in 12 FP Shops covering 4 districts on pilot basis to check the feasibility of the best suitable technology option. It could be rolled out in the entire AP state in next few months.

AADHAAR based POS Implementation :

The project is initially implemented in Renugunta Mandal Kothapalem village in Chittor  district . It could be rolled out in the entire AP state in next few months.

Process  :

 

FP Shop shall be equipped with POS Terminal along with the beneficiaries’ data (IRIS/Fingerprint/Demographic). Ration card holders pertaining to that area will come up with smart card (Contact or Contact less type/RFID Tag). Whenever beneficiary makes a transaction with FP shop the card details are validated using POS terminal.

 

After successful validation the beneficiary is given the essential commodities based on the allotment. A payment receipt is printed and given to beneficiary. Also the stock is reflected on the POS terminal. The transactional data would be sent to the Central Server using GSM/GPRS/CDMA technologies on daily/need basis.
